Como cada año, la Noche de los Museos de Cartagena celebrará el próximo 21 de mayo, su XIV Edición, ofreciendo a los visitantes una cultura segura; con la que poder disfrutar del patrimonio histórico artístico de la ciudad.
La Noche de los museos se ha convertido en uno de los eventos culturales más importantes de Cartagena; capaz de resaltar el patrimonio cultural, el legado del pasado, y los recursos imprescindibles para el futuro, por su gran valor educativo y social, así como por su considerable potencial económico.
RUTAS Y VISITAS GUIADAS
1. CONOCE EL OESTE DE CARTAGENA. CAMINO A LA BALSA VIEJA
Partiendo del Molino de la Tía Jarapa, visitaremos un ventorrillo tradicional en Cuesta Blanca y nos encaminaremos para coger la rambla dirección a los diseminados cercanos núcleos de San Isidro. Veremos en nuestro recorrido una balsa romana y antiguas canalizaciones de agua hasta llegar a la impresionante balsa vieja.
Un recorrido patrimonial cultural y natural que desemboca en el pueblo lleno de secretos y tradición que le da nombre a la diputación donde se desarrolla el recorrido, La Magdalena.

2. CUENTA LA LEYENDA
La ciudad trimilenaria de Cartagena cuenta en su haber con, además de un rico patrimonio, un gran número de leyendas e historias misteriosas que tanto locales como visitantes deben de conocer. A través de esta ruta se visitarán algunos de los rincones más importantes de la ciudad y en ellos se contarán algunas de sus leyendas más famosas.
Leyendas fantasmagóricas como la de María Oliva o la Nao Fantasma, religiosas como la de Santiago o San Ginés, terroríficas como la de Drácula, la momia o el abrazo del muerto ¡y muchas más!.

3. CARTAGENA DESDE SU ATALAYA
En esta singular ruta de senderismo combinamos una actividad física moderada con la interpretación de las principales áreas urbanas de la ciudad, de sus puertos y de toda la Comarca de Cartagena desde las alturas de este inmejorable mirador natural.
Una vez en la cima, déjate cautivar por la robustez y elegancia arquitectónica de una de las fortalezas militares más populares de la ciudad y prepárate para sorprenderte con los fascinantes episodios históricos de los que sido protagonista desde su construcción en el último cuarto del siglo XVIII.

Observaciones: Los participantes deberán llevar ropa y calzado cómodo, preferiblemente de montaña o deporte, así como agua, gorro y gafas de sol. La realización de esta ruta precisa de una actividad física de intensidad media al tener que subir unos 2kms de camino pavimentado pero de fuerte inclinación).
4. EN BUSCA DE LOS REFUGIOS DE LA GUERRA CIVIL
Cartagena fue, por su posición estratégica y de su papel de abastecimiento del frente republicano, uno de los objetivos junto con Barcelona del bando nacional en la Guerra Civil Española, por este motivo, la Junta de Defensa Pasiva decidió realizar una serie de refugios antiaéreos para que las población civil, indefensa, pudiera protegerse de los bombardeos durante los años 1936 y 1939. En este recorrido el participante descubrirá los lugares donde se encontraban la mayoría de estos emplazamientos.

5. EPIDEMIAS Y CATÁSTROFES EN CARTAGENA A LO LARGO DE SU HISTORIA
Con la pandemia de coronavirus todavía muy presente en la vida diaria de los cartageneros, esta ruta permitirá recorrer los principales escenarios donde se produjeron en el pasado epidemias, enfermedades y catástrofes que marcaron a varias generaciones y que requirieron de decisiones que todavía perduran en el diseño de la ciudad. La peste bubónica del siglo XVII, las epidemias de cólera en el siglo XIX, el bombardeo de la ciudad durante la Revolución Cantonal o las enfermedades provocadas por el Estero o El Almarjal son algunos de los episodios que se revivirán en esta visita.

6. DE RUTA POR LOS MOLINOS DE VIENTO Y EL MUSEO ETNOGRÁFICO DE LOS PUERTOS DE SANTA BÁRBARA
El paisaje, la historia y la cultura del Campo de Cartagena no serían lo mismo sin la silueta inconfundible de los molinos de viento que desde hace siglos dominan el horizonte de estas tierras. Con esta ruta el visitante conocerá diferentes tipos de molinos de viento, según las utilidades para las que se empleaba el movimiento de su maquinaria, entre ellos, el molino de las Piedras (un molino tradicional de vela latina del Campo de Cartagena, de tipo harinero, y está considerado Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC) con categoría de monumento y el molino Zabala que actualmente vuelve a moler y es el más antiguo de los que aún perviven en nuestra Comarca. La actividad finalizará en el Museo Etnográfico de los Puertos de Santa Bárbara. La visita contemplará un recorrido por dicho museo y la Noria de Sangre aledaña que tiene su origen en los años 60 del siglo XX, siendo usada durante décadas para la extracción de agua que regaba los cultivos tradicionales de secano de la zona.

7. CARTAGENA MODERNISTA
La Cartagena modernista comprende la gran mayoría de edificios construidos desde finales del siglo XIX hasta la segunda década del XX. Haremos un recorrido por los más significativos diseñados por arquitectos como Víctor Beltrí, Tomas Rico o Francisco de Paula Oliver que nos dejaron un legado que mostramos orgullosos.

8. LOS DIOSES DE LAS 5 COLINAS. DESCUBRE SUS SECRETOS.
¿Conoces quien fue la primera sirena de la historia?, ¿crees que fue una maldición?. Dioses tan sanguinarios como Molok que devoraban a los niños vivos. Sin embargo, otros sanaban como Esculapio, su padre el Dios Apolo no supo hasta dónde llegó el poder curador de su hijo y su descendencia. Los amores de Venus prohibidos de la diosa llenaban la obsesión a Vulcano hasta el punto de crear un maquiavélico plan para vengarse de ella. Descubre estas historias y otras que están relacionadas con los templos que se asentaban en las cinco colinas de Cartago Nova.

9. TESOROS DE CARTAGENA. EL SIGLO XIII
En esta ruta centramos la atención en una de las épocas más desconocidas de la ciudad portuaria. Cartagena posee en el siglo XIII un momento de esplendor en el que grandes riquezas y un gran comercio nacional e internacional se plasma en los restos encontrados en las excavaciones arqueológicas del Teatro Romano y su entorno.

10. ANÉCDOTAS, LEYENDAS E HISTORIAS DE CARTAGENA
Nuestra ciudad ha sido cuna de anécdotas, leyendas e historias que han sido transmitidas de padres a hijos. En esta ruta te proponemos descubrir algunas de las más conocidas como las relacionadas con los Suspiros de España, el café asiático, Caridad “La Negra”, la “Charito”, el soldadito de plomo, los Icue’s y muchas más que te harán recordar esos momentos tan especiales que compartiste de niñ@ con tu familia.

11. ISAAC PERAL. INFANCIA DEL INVENTOR DEL SUBMARINO
Identificaremos los lugares donde el niño Isaac Peral nació, lo bautizaron, jugó con otros niños, el lugar donde estudió antes de trasladarse a Cádiz con sus padres. Comprenderemos su carácter y por qué lo llamaron cariñosamente sus amigos “El Profundo Isaac”. Finalizando nuestro recorrido delante del primer submarino de la historia.

12. VISITA GUIADA AL FARO DE CABO DE PALOS
La visita al Faro de Cabo comenzará en la explanada del edificio donde un guía nos explicará la historia, el funcionamiento y muchas curiosidades sobre esta señal marítima para luego adentrarnos en su interior. Tras superar los 350 peldaños de su escalera de caracol llegaremos hasta la terraza superior donde disfrutaremos de una panorámica única de nuestro Mar Mediterráneo, Cabo de Palos y La Manga.

13. VISITA LA EXPOSICIÓN «ANFITEATRO ROMANO DE CARTAGENA. PASADO, PRESENTE Y FUTURO»
El Anfiteatro de Autopsias albergará una pequeña exposición titulada “Anfiteatro Romano: pasado, presente y futuro” que le convertirá en la puerta de entrada al edificio de espectáculos del siglo I.
La exposición, prevé un recorrido histórico por nuestro Coliseo, acercándonos a los diferentes elementos patrimoniales que han condicionado su evolución tales como el complejo del Hospital de Marina, la apertura de la calle Gisbert y la construcción de la Plaza de Toros. Esta muestra permanecerá abierta todos los sábados del año, aunque la Noche de Los Museos contará con un aliciente especial, un Proyector Holográfico proporcionado por la UPCT que permitirá al visitante disfrutar de una experiencia inmersiva que nos trasladará a una lucha gladiatoria en el Anfiteatro de Carthago Nova del siglo I.

14. CENTRO DE INTERPRETACIÓN DE LA MINA DE LAS MATILDES
El Centro de Interpretación es un espacio interpretativo donde los visitantes pueden conocer de una forma didáctica y amena, distintas facetas de la minería y de las huellas que ha dejado en el medio ambiente y en la historia e idiosincracia de esta comarca, y descubrir el valioso patrimonio industrial de la Sierra Minera de Cartagena-La Unión, así como la singularidad y la belleza de las minas del entorno del Beal dedicadas al desagüe de la cuenca minera. Además, el centro cuenta también con una atractiva exposición de fotografía histórica de la Sierra Minera que evoca momentos, espacios y rostros de la historia de la Sierra Minera en el siglo XX.

15. VISITA AL CASINO DE CARTAGENA
El Casino de Cartagena es uno de los edificios más emblemáticos de la ciudad. Aposentado sobre un antiguo palacio barroco, el arquitecto del modernismo Víctor Beltrí lo restauró íntegramente en 1897, siendo a día de hoy una de las mejores pruebas vivientes del modernismo cartagenero. La visita hará hincapié en la historia de la entidad y del edificio que lo alberga, mostrando todas sus dependencias mientras que se cuentan los relatos que ocurrieron en ellas y los personajes históricos que la ocuparon. Sin duda es una buena manera de conocer la historia moderna y contemporánea de la ciudad, ya que entre sus paredes está condensada completamente los últimos 300 años de la historia de Cartagena.

THE NIGHT OF THE MUSEUMS 2022
As every year, the Night of the Museums of Cartagena will celebrate its 14th edition on 21 May, offering visitors a safe culture, with which to enjoy the historical and artistic heritage of the city.
The Night of the Museums has become one of the most important cultural events in Cartagena; able to highlight the cultural heritage, the legacy of the past, and the essential resources for the future, for its great educational and social value, as well as for its considerable economic potential.
GUIDED TOURS AND VISITS
1.GET TO KNOW THE WEST OF CARTAGENA. THE ROAD TO THE OLD RAFT
Leaving from the Molino de la Tía Jarapa, we will visit a traditional «ventorrillo» in Cuesta Blanca and we will head towards the rambla in the direction of the nearby scattered villages of San Isidro. On our route we will see a Roman pond and ancient water channels until we reach the impressive old pond.
A cultural and natural heritage route that ends in the village full of secrets and tradition that gives its name to the district where the route takes place, La Magdalena.

2. LEGEND HAS IT
The three thousand year old city of Cartagena has, in addition to a rich heritage, a large number of legends and mysterious stories that both locals and visitors should know. This route will take you to some of the most important corners of the city, where some of its most famous legends will be told.
Ghostly legends such as María Oliva or the Nao Fantasma, religious legends such as Santiago or San Ginés, terrifying legends such as Dracula, the mummy or the dead man’s embrace and many more!

3. CARTAGENA FROM ITS WATCHTOWER.
In this unique hiking route we combine moderate physical activity with the interpretation of the main urban areas of the city, its ports and the entire region of Cartagena from the heights of this unbeatable natural viewpoint.
Once at the top, let yourself be captivated by the robustness and architectural elegance of one of the most popular military fortresses in the city and get ready to be amazed by the fascinating historical episodes of which it has been the protagonist since its construction in the last quarter of the 18th century.

Observations: Participants should wear comfortable clothes and footwear, preferably hiking or sports shoes, as well as water, a hat and sunglasses. This route requires a medium-intensity physical activity as you will have to climb about 2kms of paved but steeply sloping road).
4. IN SEARCH OF CIVIL WAR SHELTERS
Cartagena was, due to its strategic position and its role in supplying the Republican front, one of the objectives along with Barcelona of the Nationalist side in the Spanish Civil War. For this reason, the Passive Defence Board decided to build a series of air-raid shelters so that the defenceless civilian population could protect themselves from bombing during the years 1936 and 1939. On this tour, participants will discover the places where most of these sites were located.

With the coronavirus pandemic still very much present in the daily lives of the people of Cartagena, this route will take you on a tour of the main places where epidemics, diseases and catastrophes occurred in the past that marked several generations and required decisions that still remain in the design of the city. The bubonic plague of the 17th century, the cholera epidemics in the 19th century, the bombardment of the city during the Cantonal Revolution or the diseases caused by the Estero or El Almarjal are some of the episodes that will be relived on this visit.

6. A TOUR OF THE WINDMILLS AND THE ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM OF THE PORTS OF SANTA BARBARA
The landscape, history and culture of Campo de Cartagena would not be the same without the unmistakable silhouette of the windmills that have dominated the horizon of these lands for centuries. With this route the visitor will get to know different types of windmills, according to the uses for which the movement of their machinery was used, among them, the mill of Las Piedras (a traditional lateen windmill of the Campo de Cartagena, of the flour type, and is considered an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) with the category of monument and the Zabala mill that currently grinds again and is the oldest of those that still survive in our region. The activity will end at the Ethnographic Museum of Los Puertos de Santa Bárbara. The visit will include a tour of the museum and the nearby Noria de Sangre, which dates back to the 60s of the 20th century and was used for decades to extract water to irrigate the area’s traditional rain-fed crops.

7. MODERNIST CARTAGENA
Modernist Cartagena comprises the vast majority of buildings constructed from the end of the 19th century until the second decade of the 20th century. We will take a tour of the most significant ones designed by architects such as Víctor Beltrí, Tomas Rico and Francisco de Paula Oliver, who left us a legacy that we are proud to display.

8. THE GODS OF THE 5 HILLS. DISCOVER THEIR SECRETS.
Do you know who was the first mermaid in history, do you think it was a curse? Gods as bloodthirsty as Molok devoured children alive. Yet others healed like Aesculapius, his father the god Apollo did not know the extent of the healing power of his son and his offspring. The goddess’ forbidden loves of Venus filled Vulcan with obsession to the point of creating a Machiavellian plan to take revenge on her. Discover these stories and others related to the temples that stood on the five hills of Carthage Nova.

9. TREASURES OF CARTAGENA. THE THIRTEENTH CENTURY
On this route we focus our attention on one of the most unknown periods of the port city. Cartagena in the 13th century was a time of splendour in which great wealth and national and international trade are reflected in the remains found in the archaeological excavations of the Roman Theatre and its surroundings.

10. ANECDOTES, LEGENDS AND STORIES OF CARTAGENA
Our city has been the cradle of anecdotes, legends and stories that have been passed down from parents to children. On this route we propose you to discover some of the best known ones such as those related to the Suspiros de España, the Asian café, Caridad «La Negra», the «Charito», the tin soldier, the Icue’s and many more that will make you remember those special moments you shared as a child with your family.

11. ISAAC PERAL. CHILDHOOD OF THE INVENTOR OF THE SUBMARINE
We will identify the places where the boy Isaac Peral was born, where he was baptised, where he played with other children, where he studied before moving to Cadiz with his parents. We will understand his character and why he was affectionately called «El Profundo Isaac» by his friends. Ending our tour in front of the first submarine in history.

12. GUIDED VISIT TO THE LIGHTHOUSE AT CABO DE PALOS
The visit to the Cabo de Cabo Lighthouse will begin on the esplanade of the building where a guide will explain the history, operation and many curiosities about this maritime signpost and then we will go inside. After climbing the 350 steps of its spiral staircase we will reach the upper terrace where we will enjoy a unique panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea, Cabo de Palos and La Manga.

13. VISIT THE EXHIBITION «ROMAN AMPHITHEATRE OF CARTAGENA. PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE».
The Amphitheatre of Autopsies will host a small exhibition entitled «Roman Amphitheatre: past, present and future» which will make it the gateway to the 1st century entertainment building.
The exhibition provides a historical journey through our Coliseum, bringing us closer to the different heritage elements that have conditioned its evolution, such as the Hospital de Marina complex, the opening of Gisbert Street and the construction of the Bullring. This exhibition will remain open every Saturday of the year, although the Night of the Museums will have a special attraction, a Holographic Projector provided by the UPCT that will allow visitors to enjoy an immersive experience that will transport us to a gladiatorial fight in the Amphitheatre of Carthago Nova in the 1st century.

14. CENTRO DE INTERPRETACIÓN DE LA MINA DE LAS MATILDES
The Interpretation Centre is an interpretative space where visitors can learn about different facets of mining and the traces it has left in the environment and in the history and idiosyncrasy of this region, and discover the valuable industrial heritage of the Sierra Minera de Cartagena-La Unión, as well as the uniqueness and beauty of the mines in the Beal area dedicated to the drainage of the mining basin. In addition, the centre also has an attractive exhibition of historical photographs of the Sierra Minera which evokes moments, spaces and faces of the history of the Sierra Minera in the 20th century.

15. VISIT TO THE CASINO OF CARTAGENA
The Casino de Cartagena is one of the city’s most emblematic buildings. Built on the site of an old Baroque palace, the modernist architect Víctor Beltrí fully restored it in 1897, and it is still today one of the best living proofs of Cartagena’s modernism. The visit will emphasise the history of the institution and the building that houses it, showing all its rooms while telling the stories that took place in them and the historical figures that occupied it. It is undoubtedly a good way to get to know the modern and contemporary history of the city, as the last 300 years of Cartagena’s history are completely condensed within its walls.
