Hola a tod@s, desde el Paraíso, os queremos presentar el XXI FESTVAL DE JAZZ DE SAN JAVIER, uno de los Festivales Internacionales más importantes y aplaudidos por los amantes del Jazz, el cual comenzará el 30 de Junio y finalizará el 28 de Julio de 2018.
Aquí os dejamos el programa del Festival así como una pequeña presentación de algunos de los artistas que en él participan.
WALTER “WOLFMAN” WASHINGTON & THE ROADMASTERS
Una de las más destacadas figuras de la escena musical de Nueva Orleans, Walter ‘Wolfman’ Washington ha brillado con luz propia en la efervescente corriente artística que genera la ciudad cuna del jazz, desde 1964. Ha tocado y grabado con figuras legendarias de New Orleans como Lee Dorsey, Johnny Adams o Irma Thomas, y hoy, con 74 años, ha alcanzado el reconocimiento que merece como uno de los músicos de blues más originales en activo. Con su banda de muchos años The Roadmasters, Walter Wolfman presenta, por primera vez en Jazz San Javier, un concierto en el que el blues, el funk y el R&B se dan la mano, y en el que este gran guitarrista y cantante hará disfrutar a los aficionados al blues del Festival.
KENNY GARRETT QUINTET
Considerado como “el más importante saxofonista alto de su generación” por el Washington Post y “Uno de los más admirados saxofonistas altos en el jazz después de Charlie Parker” por el New York Times, Kenny Garrett es uno de los más prestigiosos saxofonistas del post-bop jazz, y tanto con el saxofón como con la flauta, ganó gran prestigio como miembro de la Orquesta de Duke Ellington y como miembro de la banda de Miles Davis. Ganador de un premio Grammy, su carrera posterior ha sido impresionante, tocando y grabando discos con la flor y nata del jazz; por nombrar sólo unos pocos: Art Blakey, Joe Henderson, Brad Mehldau, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Marcus Miller, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Bobby Hutcherson o Elvin Jones. Una excelente ocasión para disfrutar de la música de este grande del saxo, por primera vez en Jazz San Javier.
TRICIA EVY QUINTET & ROLAND BAKER
Nacida en el Caribe, en la isla de Guadalupe, Tricia Evy fijó su residencia en París en 2006. Admiradora de las grandes damas del jazz clásico como Ella Fitzgerald o Billie Holiday, se ha ido ganando el respeto de la escena del jazz en Francia, siempre tan competitiva, y sus dos álbumes “Beginning” y “Meet Me” y sus espectaculares conciertos, en los que mezcla composiciones propias, canciones del folclore antillano y estandars del jazz, la acreditan como uno de los nuevos valores del jazz europeo. Junto a cuatro músicos excelentes, bien conocidos por el público de Jazz San Javier, un invitado excepcional, el prestigioso trompetista y cantante estadounidense Ronald Baker, que nos visitó en dos ocasiones anteriores con Ignasi Terraza, y del que guardamos un magnífico recuerdo.
LOS BLUESFALOS
Fundada en 1987 por Manuel Gómez Mateos “Slim Gómez”, la banda murciana Los Bluesfalos es uno de los principales exponentes en España del blues cantado íntegramente en castellano. Con más de 20 años en los escenarios y 2000 conciertos realizados, la mejor revista de blues del mundo “Living Blues”, editada por la Universidad de Mississipi, los califica como el principal baluarte del blues en español. Después del histórico concierto que nos ofrecieron en 2010, en la XIII edición del Festival, en una noche memorable junto a Robben Ford y Bill Evans, Los Bluesfalos vuelven a Jazz San Javier, con más ganas que nunca, para disfrute de todos los aficionados al blues rock.

Hello to everyone, from Paradise, we want to present you the XXI FESTIVAL OF JAZZ OF SAN JAVIER, one of the most important International Festivals and applauded by lovers of Jazz, which will begin on June 30 and end on July 28 of 2018.

One of the most distinguished figures in the New Orleans musical scene, Walter ‘Wolfman’ Washington has been shinning his light in the cradle of jazz since 1964. He has performed and recorded with legendary New Orleans figures like Lee Dorsey, Johnny Adams or Irma Thomas, and today at 74 years of age, he has garnered the recognition he deserves as one of the most original active Blues musicians. With his long time band The Roadmasters, this great guitarist and singer presents, for the first time in San Javier, a concert in which blues, funk and R&B meet which is sure to be a delight to all blues aficionados.

Alongside four excellent musicians, well known by the Jazz San Javier audience, and an exceptional guest, the presitigiopus trumpet player and singer from the U.S., Ronal Baker, who has visited us on two previous occassions with Ignasi Terraza.
LOS BLUESFALOS
Founded in 1987 by Manuel Gómez Mateos “Slim Gómez”, the band from Murcia, Los Bluesfalos is one of the main representatives in Spain of Blues sung entirely in Spanish. With more than 20 years on stage and 2,000 live performances, the best Blues magazine in the world “Living Blues”, edited by the University of Mississippi, considers them the main bastion in Blues in Spanish. After their historic performance in 2010 during the 13th edition of the Festival, in a memorable night alongside Robben Ford and Bill Evans, Los Bluesfalos return to Jazz Javier, more eager than ever before to please all blues rock aficionados.
